Fine hair isn’t a thing I have a problem with myself, at the moment. There have been times in my life where I have had thinner hair due to stress and nutritional deficiencies, but at the moment, my hair is a little too thick and unmanageable. However I do have friends tell me that their hair is thinner than they’d like so when Viviscal gave me a bottle of their Viviscal Gorgeous Growth Densifying Elixir* to try out, I roped in my friend Emily for an honest opinion.
The Viviscal Densifying range has been developed with Zinc, Biotin and Keratin to promote healthy hair growth. It also includes a blend of botanical compounds and Viviscals new Ana:Tel complex which stimulates hair growth by harnessing the power of pea sprout extract which reduces hair fall.
The range includes the Viviscal Densifying Shampoo (£9.99), Conditioner (£9.99), Elixier (£19.99) and the Viviscal Conceal & Densify Volumising Fibers (£19.99).
Emily tried out the Viviscal Densifying Elixir, a serum like product that either goes onto dry or wet hair. Designed as a body boosting leave-in treatment, the Elixir contains all of the Densifying active ingredients and aims to promote the appearance of healthy looking hair whilst reducing hair fall.
Whilst the amber coloured elixir looks like it might be an oil, it actually comes out much less viscous. It feels more like a light gel or a thick fluid than an oil and doesn’t seem like it would be heavy on the hair which would appeal to those with finer hair. The smell is surprising, Emily thinks it smells like nothing, I actually think it has a faint whiff of TCP. A slightly medicinal scent that doesn’t last too long.
After using it on dry hair, it does appear to tame flyaways without weighing fine hair down. It also seems to have a slightly crunchy texture but Emily is getting lots of compliments to it must be doing something.
After using it a week I ask Emily about her experiences with the product. “It doesn’t actually make my hair thicker but makes it feel thicker, I think it’s really good.” Only time till tell if the topical application of the active ingredients will do all that the product claims, however used in conjunction with the other products in the range, the elixir might have more of an impact.
