Collection Cosmetics have unveiled two new products to their bargain line up; the Collection Precision Contouring Pencil and a six shade range of Collection Deluxe Lip Lacquers.
I honestly remember being 14 a loooong time ago and going into a Superdrug store asking about contouring products and the sales assistant looked at me as if I were mad. Now you can’t move for contouring options on the shelves and there’s apparently one to suit everyone.
So which one would suit the clumsy, busy, frugal does her makeup on the train type of person? Well Collection probably doesn’t have that woman in mind when they’re marketing but she exists and she is me and very likely to be the buyer of Collection’s latest creation.
The Collection Precision Contour pencil is a really simple product. You literally just draw on your face and then blend it out with with your fingers or a brush. Then if you want a more chiseled, dramatic look, do the same again until you have your desired effect.
The Collection Precision Contour pencil is slimline for a contour stick and has a somewhat pointed tip all in the name of precision. It’s so easy to blend out and layer and the finish is quite sheer but really easy to build on so you can go as natural or dramatic as you want. his will definitely be a staple in my makeup bag.
The pencil comes in three shades, I tried the darkest one and it was just right, so there doesn’t seem to be much option for even darker skin tones who might want to reach for the Collection speedy highlighter instead.
The Collection Precision Contour Stick will be available on 27th July in Superdrug stores and from 3rd August in Boots for a bargain price of £3.99.
I also had the chance to try out the Collection Deluxe Lip Lacquer in Raspberry Kisses.
The shade is really pink, now I love a hot pink, it’s a cute alternative to a bold red and can be worn without looking threatening, but this is unbelievably pink. The tear shaped applicator makes it really easy to apply to both the fullest part of the lips, with the tip allowing you to be more precise in the corners whilst staying within your lip line.
The thick texture is what will give the lip lacquer the staying power. You’ll also be able to feel when it’s time for a reapplication. It really is very sticky however and I put it to the test by trying to eat popcorn whilst wearing it. Verdict: probably not wise to wear if you know you’re going to be eating or drinking or doing anything at all with your lips other than looking pretty. For looking pretty, it’s perfect.
A fantastic price again at £4.19, the Collection Deluxe Lip Lacquer gives good coverage and a fantastic hit of colour but the texture will mean that this won’t be a staple for me. These are available in Superdrug and Boots stores from July.
